The Students in Blockade informal group said that the investigation into allegations that they fabricated evidence of the use of a sonic weapon against protesters in March 2025 was an attempt to draw attention away from fundamental issues.

“The latest attempt by the Higher Public Prosecution (VJT) to find evidence in student meetings of an allegedly fabricated “simulation of a sound cannon” is another lie and a diversion from the essential issue,” a post on the blokade.org site said.
It said the document prosecutors are basing their investigation on was drawn up 2 months before the the March 15, 2025 protest in Belgrade was planned. “The document is from a meeting about the earlier protest at the Autokomanda junction which discussed security risks and possible police intervention,” the post said adding that sound devices, water cannon, tear gas were among the risks discussed.
The post dismissed as “particularly absurd claims about reactions from European institutions”.
“Instead of answering questions that have been raised for more than a year, the prosecutor’s office is trying to present discussions about the possible use of force as evidence of orchestration. We should recall that following the events of March 15, a number of investigations were launched, people were questioned, and institutions acknowledged that a major incident occurred which caused mass panic and chaos,” it said.
“Students will not accept being declared guilty for having considered the risks to participants in peaceful protests. If mentioning the possible use of force is taken as proof of guilt, then the problem is much larger than a single meeting record. The citizens of Serbia deserve the truth about the events of March 15, not a new attempt to shift responsibility to the people who have been peacefully and non-violently protesting for months,” it said.

The group claimed the investigation relied on a document prepared two months prior to the protest, discussing potential security measures such as sound devices, water cannons, and tear gas. They criticized the prosecution for focusing on discussions about possible police actions rather than addressing ongoing concerns raised over a year

She cited an investigation by the Higher Public Prosecution (VJT) which found that the claim of a sonic weapon had been planned at least 53 days prior to the event. International organizations confirmed the use of a sonic device during the protest, while the Russian FSB denied it. The FBI was involved in the investigation but did not make any public statements.
