Blue lichen in inland waters greater than normal

Blue-green algae have been observed more frequently than usual in inland waters this week, though no extremely heavy blooms have been recorded. Sightings have been noted at six locations in Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa, and South Savo. In coastal areas, the situation appears calmer than average for this time of year. The blue-green algae situation is monitored weekly at around 300 observation sites. Conditions can change rapidly within hours, so it is advisable to check for blue-green algae before swimming or using water.
