In Schilde komt een nieuwe brandweerkazerne op de huidige locatie, in 't Parkske. De huidige kazerne verdwijnt en maakt plaats voor een nieuw gebouw, dat de brandweer zal delen met de politie en het Rode Kruis. Schilde verwacht dat de bouw vanaf 2027 kan starten.

Voor de nieuwe veiligheidssite verdwijnen de huidige brandweerkazerne en het aangrenzende gebouw van de dienst vrije tijd. Die dienst krijgt een nieuwe plek in het gemeentehuis, dat momenteel gerenoveerd wordt.

"Met deze veiligheidssite brengen we onze hulpdiensten samen op 1 plek. We bouwen aan een moderne en toekomstgerichte uitvalsbasis. Brandweer, politie en Rode Kruis werken er nauwer samen. Dat is van groot belang op momenten wanneer elke seconde telt", zegt burgemeester Dirk Bauwens (N-VA).

De gemeente gaat voor de nieuwe brandweerkazerne op zoek naar een architect. Het bestek voor die aanbesteding is onlangs goedgekeurd op de gemeenteraad.

In het meerjarenplan voorziet Schilde een budget van 3,5 miljoen euro voor het project. Een haalbaarheidsstudie uit 2025 raamde de bouwkost op ongeveer 3,75 miljoen euro inclusief btw.

De toekomstige architect krijgt daarom de opdracht om actief te zoeken naar manieren om de kosten binnen het beschikbare budget te houden.

De aanstelling van de architect staat gepland voor dit najaar. De uitvoering van het project is voorzien in 2027 en 2028.
