The driver of a bus that crashed into a viaduct in the south of the Czech Republic and tore off the roof faces up to five years in prison

A bus driver was accused of driving under a viaduct in South Bohemia despite height restrictions, causing damage to the structure and injuring four foreign passengers. The driver, who was not under the influence of alcohol, faces up to five years in prison for negligence. The incident occurred when the driver took a foreigner from Linz on a trip to Cesky Krumlov.

Řidič i přesto pod viadukt vjel, kde následně střechou autobusu narazil do jeho konstrukce a zůstal s vozidlem zaklíněn,“ řekl mluvčí policie Miroslav Šupík.

Na místě záchranáři ošetřili 4 zraněné cizince s lehčími poraněními. Škoda na zničeném autobusu činí milion korun, dalších sto tisíc na poškozené konstrukci viaduktu. Řidič nebyl pod vlivem alkoholu.

64letého řidiče čeká v nejbližších týdnech soud. Za obecné ohrožení z nedbalosti mu hrozí až pět let za mřížemi a zákaz činnosti.
