KPMG has misused client data and won't get a government contract

According to Reuters, KPMG faces allegations of using confidential client information to secure additional contracts in the private sector. Podle agentury Reuters čelí KPMG podezření, že důvěrné informace některých klientů využila při získávání dalších kontraktů ze soukromého sektoru.

Kauza může být bolestivá – u australské vlády má firma aktivní smlouvy asi za 650 milionů australských dolarů, tedy za téměř deset miliard korun. Kvůli aféře už skončil australský šéf KPMG i vedoucí její auditní divize.

„Nepochybně to bude mít dopady,“ řekl Reuters bývalý partner KPMG Brendan Lyon. Podle někdejšího úředníka ministerstva financí Stephena Bartose budou teď úřady opatrnější kvůli obavě ze zneužití citlivých materiálů.

Spouštěčem byla říjnová zpráva o nasazení umělé inteligence, která obsahovala řadu nepravdivých tvrzení – například o jejím využití bankou UBS, britským zdravotním systémem NHS či londýnským dopravním podnikem. Jde o další případ halucinací AI ve studiích velkých poradenských firem. Minulý měsíc podobnou zprávu stáhla EY.

Případ zasáhl pověst celé velké čtyřky – tedy KPMG, PwC, Deloitte a EY, čtyř největších poradenských a auditorských firem světa. Austrálie už v roce 2023 řešila skandál PwC, která sdílela důvěrné informace o daňové politice. Nové federální zakázky pro velkou čtyřku se poté propadly z 637 na 348 milionů australských dolarů ročně.

„Opakované skandály PwC a KPMG naznačují, že trh čeká výraznější otřes,“ řekl konzervativní senátor Richard Colbeck.

Kvůli halucinacím AI měla loni opakovaně problémy i Deloitte. Australské vládě měla vrátit část z 440 tisíc australských dolarů za zprávu s vymyšlenými citacemi z rozsudku a odkazy na neexistující studie. V listopadu pak kanadská provincie Newfoundland a Labrador žádala prověření citací v jejím zdravotnickém plánu, kde se rovněž objevily neexistující zdroje.
