The Cairo Opera Ballet Company will present four nights of performances to conclude its 2025-2026 season, featuring the ballets Osiris and Danses qu’on Croise, along with tableaux from the opera Prince Igor, accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra.

The performances will take place from Tuesday to Friday, at 7:30 PM on the Main Hall.

Osiris

The ballet Osiris draws inspiration from the famous ancient Egyptian story of Osiris and his wife Isis, who enjoyed a blissful marriage.

Their happiness is cut short by a plot from Osiris’s brother Set and his wife Nephthys. Driven by hatred and jealousy, their conspiracy against the king culminates in his murder.

Horus avenges his father Osiris with the help of his mother Isis. The battle between Horus’s army and Set’s army ends with Horus’s victory and his coronation as king of Egypt.

The choreography for the ballet Osiris was designed by Abdel-Moneim Kamel and Armenia Kamel, with music composed by Gamal Abdel-Rahim.

Danses qu’on Croise and the Prince Igor opera

The Danses qu’on Croise ballet revolves around a series of amusing relationships between four young men and four young women.

This is followed by a tableaux from the Prince Igor Tableu, with music by Alexander Borodin and choreography by Valentin Pearce, at the end of Act Two, in which the tribal chief orders Prince Igor to be entertained after his military campaign’s failure and his capture.

The performance is part of the Egyptian Opera House’s mission to present masterpieces of world classical art and highlight creative works inspired by human heritage, thus contributing to the enrichment of aesthetic awareness.
