V BBC-ju so naznanili največje odpuščanje od leta 2011. Ukinili bodo 550 novinarskih mest in številne programe, porabo vsebine pa bodo zmanjšali za 90 milijonov evrov, je napovedal direktor britanske javne radiotelevizije Matt Brittin.

Funkcijo generalnega direktorja pri BBC je Brittin prevzel maja, ko je zamenjal Tima Davieja . Ta je novembra lani napovedal svoj odstop po sporu glede dokumentarnega filma, v katerem je bil prirejen govor ameriškega predsednika Donalda Trumpa iz leta 2021.
