Nizozemska reprezentacija suočava se s novim kadrovskim problemima uoči nastupa na Svjetskom prvenstvu.

Nakon razočaravajućeg poraza u prijateljskom susretu protiv Alžira, selektor Ronald Koeman dobio je još jednu neugodnu vijest koja će utjecati na planove pred najveću fudbalsku smotru.
Naime, među 26 igrača koji su trebali predstavljati Oranje na Mundijalu više neće biti Jurriena Timbera, jednog od najcjenjenijih bekova današnjice i člana Arsenala koji je ove sezone osvojio naslov prvaka Engleske.
Timber već duže vrijeme vodi borbu s povredom prepona koju je zadobio 14. marta tokom utakmice protiv Evertona. Iako je nakon višemjesečne rehabilitacije uspio zaigrati i u finalu Lige prvaka, u kojem je Arsenal poražen od PSG-a, procijenjeno je da još uvijek nije spreman za napore koje zahtijeva nastup na Svjetskom prvenstvu.
U saopćenju Nizozemskog fudbalskog saveza navedeno je:
"24-godišnjak se nije dovoljno oporavio od ozljede prepona za sudjelovanje na Svjetskom prvenstvu. U dogovoru s medicinskim timom odlučeno je kako će Timber napustiti reprezentativni kamp nakon prijateljske utakmice s Uzbekistanom."
Njegovo odsustvo predstavlja značajan udarac za Koemanovu ekipu, s obzirom na to da je Timber posljednjih godina bio jedan od ključnih igrača nizozemske odbrane.
Geertruida dobio poziv za Mundijal
Nakon što je potvrđeno da Timber neće putovati na Svjetsko prvenstvo, stručni štab brzo je pronašao zamjenu.
Priliku da se priključi reprezentaciji dobio je Lutsharel Geertruida, defanzivac RB Leipziga koji je proteklu sezonu proveo na posudbi u Sunderlandu.
Geertruida će tako naknadno ući na konačni spisak putnika za Mundijal i pokušati pomoći Nizozemskoj da ostvari što bolji rezultat na predstojećem takmičenju.
Za Ronalda Koemana ovo je još jedan izazov u periodu kada reprezentacija nastoji pronaći željenu formu, a izostanak jednog od najvažnijih defanzivaca sigurno neće olakšati posao nizozemskom selektoru pred početak Svjetskog prvenstva.
