Israël en Hezbollah zijn het eens zijn geworden over een nieuw staakt-het-vuren, meldt persbureau Reuters op basis van een Amerikaanse topfunctionaris. Het bestand zou om 15.00 uur Nederlandse tijd zijn ingegaan.

Een Israëlische topfunctionaris bevestigt het akkoord tegenover Reuters. Ook persbureau AP meldt dit, op basis van drie functionarissen.

Volgens de Amerikaanse functionaris hebben onderhandelaars uit de Verenigde Staten en Qatar gewerkt aan de overeenkomst samen met Iran.

Sinds begin juni gold al een broos staakt-het-vuren tussen Israël en Libanon, maar daar was Hezbollah niet bij betrokken. De aanvallen tussen Hezbollah en Israël gingen dan ook gewoon door.
