Ein möglicher Spionagevorfall sorgt beim WM-Teilnehmer Südkorea für Aufregung. Nach übereinstimmenden Medienberichten soll das nicht öffentliche Training des Teams in Zapopan (MEX) vor dem wichtigen zweiten WM-Spiel gegen Co-Gastgeber Mexiko mithilfe einer Drohne ausgekundschaftet worden sein.

Die Drohne sei am Dienstag zu Beginn des Trainings gesichtet worden, als sich die Spieler um ihren Star Heung-Min Son aufwärmten. Ein mexikanischer Militärangehöriger, der im Basiscamp der Mannschaft stationiert ist und für die Störung von Drohnen zuständig ist, habe das Flugobjekt zum Absturz gebracht.

Täter sammeln Drohne ein und fliehen

Den Berichten zufolge konnten die mutmasslichen Täter die Drohne wieder einsammeln und fliehen. Der Fussballverband Südkoreas habe die Fifa über den Vorfall informiert.

Südkorea war mit einem 2:1 gegen Tschechien in die WM gestartet und trifft nun im Spitzenspiel der Gruppe A am Freitag (03:00 Uhr, live bei SRF) in Guadalajara auf Mexiko. Der Co-Gastgeber der WM hatte zuvor sein Auftaktspiel mit 2:0 gegen Südafrika gewonnen.
