Minors arrested for arson at refugee shelter in Cadir and Keer

A minor resident has been detained by police in connection with a fire at an asylum seeker accommodation facility in Cadier en Keer, South Limburg. The fire broke out in the section of the building housing underage asylum seekers around 10:30 PM. No one was injured, and the fire was quickly contained with limited damage. The building remained evacuated until it could be properly ventilated.

De verdachte van de brandstichting bij de vluchtelingenopvang in het Zuid-Limburgse dorp Cadier en Keer is een minderjarige bewoner, zegt de politie tegen L1 Nieuws (opent in nieuw venster) .

De brand brak gisteravond rond 22.30 uur uit in het gedeelte van het gebouw waar momenteel een opvang voor minderjarige asielzoekers is gevestigd. Er kwam zoveel rook vrij dat het hele gebouw ontruimd werd. Niemand raakte gewond.

Het vuur was vrij snel onder controle en de schade bleef beperkt. Wel duurde het nog een tijdje voor het gebouw geventileerd was en de bewoners weer konden terugkeren.
