Die Schweizer Nati besiegt im 2. WM-Gruppenspiel Bosnien-Herzegowina in Inglewood (Kalifornien) mit 4:1.
Die Tore vor mehr als 70'000 Fans besorgen die Joker Johan Manzambi (2) und Ruben Vargas sowie Captain Granit Xhaka in den letzten 20 Minuten.
Ab Mitternacht Schweizer Zeit kommt es zwischen Kanada und Katar zum anderen Spiel der Gruppe B.
Nein, es war erneut kein brillanter Auftritt der Schweizer Nati. Doch anders als noch gegen Katar schauten im Duell mit Bosnien-Herzegowina 3 Punkte heraus. Und Murat Yakin, der sich selbst für seine Einwechslungen im Startspiel kritisiert hatte, bewies diesmal sein goldenes Händchen.
Nach der Trinkpause in der 2. Halbzeit, als die Bosnier erstmals nach der Pause das Zepter übernommen hatten, wechselte der Nati-Coach dreifach. Für Fabian Rieder, Michel Aebischer und Dan Ndoye kamen Djibril Sow, Johan Manzambi und Ruben Vargas.
Es dauerte nur zwei Minuten, bis sich seine Wechsel auszahlten:
74. Minute: Manzambi leitet einen Angriff über Vargas ein, läuft durch und steht perfekt, als ihm der geklärte Ball auf den Fuss fällt. Aus 11 Metern überwindet der 20-Jährige Nikola Vasilj mit seinem strammen Schuss zum 1:0.
80. Minute: Manzambi schickt Breel Embolo in die Tiefe. Der Stürmer kann von Tarik Muharemovic vor dem Strafraum nur regelwidrig gestoppt werden. Der Bosnier sieht dafür Rot.
84. Minute: Diesmal landet ein Angriff von der rechten Seite über Manzambi und Embolo beim freien Vargas, der zum vorentscheidenden 2:0 trifft.
90. Minute: Vargas' Rückpass findet den freien Manzambi – und schon steht es 3:0.
Zwar vermieste Ermin Mahmic mit seinem sehenswerten Treffer nach einem Eckball Gregor Kobel die «weisse Weste». Doch die Schweizer konnten noch einmal reagieren: Ein Foul an Sow – der dritte im Bunde der «Superjoker» – sorgte in der Nachspielzeit für einen Penaltypfiff. Captain Granit Xhaka traf zum 4:1-Endergebnis.
Bosnien-Herzegowina war lange ein ebenbürtiger Gegner gewesen. Erst auf der Zielgeraden verliessen das Team von Sergej Barbarez die Kräfte. Zuvor hatten die Fans der Nati, die im hypermodernen Los-Angeles-Stadion klar in der Unterzahl waren, lange bibbern müssen.
Ein hartes Stück Arbeit
Vor allem in der 1. Halbzeit war es kein Glanzauftritt der Schweizer gewesen. Die Chancen, die sie sich noch gegen Katar herausgespielt – aber vergeben – hatten, blieben gegen die robuste Defensive der Bosnier aus. Embolo rieb sich immer wieder auf und auch Ndoye blieb lange unglücklich.
Die Langeweile zeigte sich auch auf den Rängen. Sogar die zahlreichen heissblütigen Bosnien-Fans sorgten nicht mehr derart für Stimmung wie noch vor dem Anpfiff. Kurz vor der Stundenmarke ging ein erstes Mal die Welle durchs Stadion. Für Aufsehen sorgte bloss Ndoyes spektakulärer Fallrückzieher. Der Nottingham-Spieler hatte zuvor indes im Abseits gestanden, ein Treffer hätte nicht gezählt. Doch dann sorgte Yakin mit seinen Einwechslungen für den entscheidenden Impuls.
Fehler behoben
Neben den 3 Punkten darf die Nati auch mitnehmen, dass die gegen Katar noch bemängelten Punkte – Cleverness und Effizienz – vor allem in der 2. Halbzeit verbessert wurden. Mit 4 Punkten und einer guten Tordifferenz im Gepäck dürfte die Schweiz dank neuem Modus schon so gut wie sicher in der K.o.-Runde stehen.
