Mastermind behind foiled UFC terror plot is illegal immigrant

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that Abraham Alvarez, a 31-year-old man who entered the U.S. as a child on a tourist visa and later remained in the country illegally, is suspected of orchestrating a failed terrorist plot against the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House. Alvarez was protected from deportation under the Obama-era DACA program. Prosecutors allege he planned to use explosive-laden drones and snipers to target high-profile individuals including President Trump. DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis stated Alvarez should not have been allowed into the U.S

The Department of Homeland Security said Thursday an illegal immigrant from Mexico allegedly orchestrated the failed terrorist attack targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House.

Officials said Abraham Alvarez , 31, came to the U.S. in 2001 as a child on a visa designated for tourists, medical procedures and other short-term reasons, but he remained in the United States after the visa expired.

The Obama administration’s policy of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, spared the suspect from deportation.

Prosecutors accused Mr. Alvarez of devising the foiled terrorist attack that intended to kill President Trump and other “high value targets” by launching explosive-laden drones and having snipers open fire on the UFC crowd.

“This illegal alien from Mexico should have never been allowed in our country,” DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital, who first reported the story. “He was the ringleader of a failed terror attack targeting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House.”

The DHS said he will be prosecuted and then deported

Four others were charged in the plot that was averted after one of the suspects’ parents contacted the FBI last week.
