Marketers retain high petrol prices despite Dangote Refinery reduction

Fuel marketers in Nigeria have not reduced petrol prices at retail outlets despite the Dangote Refinery lowering its ex-depot price by N75 per litre. Major retailers such as NNPC Retail, TotalEnergies, AA Rano, AYM Shafa, and Conoil continue to charge between N1,330 and N1,350 per litre. According to Dr. Billy Gillis-Harry, president of PETROAN, retail prices depend on various factors including transportation, logistics, and stock acquisition costs. He noted that marketers typically sell existing stock purchased at higher prices before adjusting to the new lower refinery prices.
