Summitom G7 prošle je godine dominirala tema potencijalnih trgovinskih ratova kojima je prijetio američki predsjednik Donald Trump . Ove godine summit se događa u debeloj sjeni rata na Bliskom istoku, koji je izazvao kaos na tržištima nafte i u globalnim opskrbnim lancima te rasplamsao inflaciju.
No, za razliku od prošle godine, kada su europske zemlje još pokušavale udobrovoljiti američkog predsjednika hodajući oko njega kao po jajima, ove godine Trump bi se trebao suočiti sa znatno emancipiranijom publikom, neimpresioniranom njegovom nerazumnom odlukom o napadu na Iran i pritiskom tog rata na njihova vlastita gospodarstva.
Kako navodi Politico, suprotstavljanje Trumpu europskim političarima danas često donosi političke bodove. Summit je odgođen za jedan dan kako ne bi koincidirao s Trumpovim rođendanom.
