Colombians are investigating the former president's links to mass killings by paramilitaries.

In Colombia, the prosecution has initiated an investigation into former President Alvaro Uribe's potential connections to mass killings committed by paramilitary groups. The probe focuses on events in Antioquia, where Uribe served as governor from 1995 to 1997. Uribe was recently sentenced to 12 years of house arrest for allegedly bribing witnesses to prevent them from testifying in a case linking him to paramilitary groups. However, this sentence was later overturned, and the case is now being reviewed by the highest court.

Kolumbiassa syyttäjänvirasto on aloittanut tutkinnan maan entisen presidentin Alvaro Uriben mahdollisista yhteyksistä puolisotilaallisten joukkojen tekemiin joukkomurhiin.

Syyttäjänviraston lausunnon mukaan tutkinta koskee tapahtumia Kolumbian luoteisosassa Antioquiassa, jossa Uribe oli kuvernöörinä vuosina 1995–1997.

Uribe tuomittiin viime elokuussa 12 vuodeksi kotiarestiin.
