Donald Trump a affirmé que Giorgia Meloni l’avait «supplié» de prendre une photo avec lui en marge du sommet du G7 en France. En réponse à cette publication, Giorgia Meloni a publié vendredi sur X une vidéo où elle s’est dite «stupéfaite» par les «pures inventions» de Donald Trump.

Le ministre italien des Affaires étrangères Antonio Tajani a annoncé vendredi 19 juin sur X annuler sa visite aux États-Unis, prévue les 21 et 22 juin, pour dénoncer les «propos graves et offensants» du président américain  Donald Trump  contre la première ministre  Giorgia Meloni .

Dans une interview téléphonique accordée à la chaîne télévisée italienne La7, Donald Trump a affirmé que Giorgia Meloni l'avait «supplié» de prendre une photo avec lui en marge du sommet du G7 en France, selon une retranscription de l'entretien publiée par la chaîne, qui n'a pas diffusé l'enregistrement audio original.
