South African hip hop fans were left surprised after DJ Speedsta made an announcement that few saw coming.
The âCombos Communicatingâ hitmaker took to his social media, revealing that Blxckie will be the next artist to headline his âHip Hop Floorâ event on June 27 at TMF Studios in Braamfontein.
Given the public fallout between the two artists over the past few months, the announcement immediately had tongues wagging with speculations that the pair may finally be putting their differences aside.
While neither Speedsta nor Blxckie has publicly addressed the status of their relationship, and don't follow each other on social media, fans wasted no time pointing out that the booking could signal a reconciliation after months of tension between the two camps.
The fallout began earlier this year when Speedsta made comments about Blxckie during an episode of his âUp to Speedâ podcast.
At the time, the DJ criticised Blxckie, claiming the rapper had not made a significant impact on the hip hop scene in 2025. âRespectfully, Blxckie didnât do shit in 2025,â he said.
The comment escalated with Blxckieâs camp and many other young hip hop artists clapping back at Speedsta, including Blxckieâs associate K1llbrady, as well as fans.
What followed was a series of exchanges that kept South African hip hop fans talking, with both sides finding themselves at the centre of one of the genreâs most talked-about disagreements this year.
As the debate continued, Speedsta reportedly later clarified that former podcast collaborator Okayswisher had played a role in pushing narratives that further fuelled the tension between him and Blxckie.
Since then, things appeared to cool down publicly, although there had been little indication that the pair would work together again anytime soon. That is why Speedstaâs latest news took many by surprise.
After a long time of silence, fans were greeted with the news that Blxckie would be taking centre stage at âHip Hop Floorâ, one of Speedstaâs most recognisable platforms.
The event is a premium monthly South African hip-hop event and cultural movement curated by Speedsta.
Created as a dedicated and safe space for local hip-hop lovers, the platform celebrates the core pillars of the culture through live sets from Speedsta and a line-up of special guests and friends.
The reaction online was immediate, with many welcoming what appears to be a positive step forward.
âLol, the dust has settled now. We love to see this. đđ„đ„đ„đ„,â said one fan on X.
Whether it marks a full reconciliation or simply a professional collaboration remains to be seen, but for now, fans are choosing to focus on the possibility of two respected figures in South African hip hop turning the page and moving forward.
