Ironman event: State security investigated after alleged attack in Hamburg

The state police in Hamburg are investigating a suspected sabotage incident during the Ironman World Championship in Hamburg. According to police reports, unknown individuals scattered small metal shavings on several streets in the district of Kirchwerder, leading to damage to multiple bicycles used by triathletes. At least one participant, a 29-year-old athlete, suffered a fracture after falling and was hospitalized. The police are currently examining whether the tire damage caused the fall.

Metallspäne auf der Radstrecke

Stand: 09.06.2026 16:10 Uhr
