Milan Kumar, Kavya, and Gambhir, residents of the Hakki Pikki Camp near Shivamogga, had travelled to Mozambique to sell medicinal plant extracts. Seeking to extend their visa, they engaged a local agent who took their documents, including passports, and subsequently disappeared without responding to their requests for the papers and money.
Mr. Kumar told The Hindu on Thursday that the High Commission of India in Mozambique intervened after being informed of the situation. “The officials traced the agent and retrieved the documents. They also assisted in booking flight tickets for the return journey. The group will depart Nampula on Friday,” he said. Mr. Kumar thanked the High Commission officials for their prompt response.
