The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, has been suspended from office.
This comes after the court's oversight body referred him to a disciplinary hearing, according to the AP news agency.
The decision follows an 18-month investigation into allegations of sexual assault and other inappropriate conduct against a female lawyer in Khan's office, according to the Reuters news agency.
Karim Khan has denied all charges.
The case will now be referred to the 125 member countries of the ICC, which will decide at a later date whether the British lawyer can continue as chief prosecutor at the court.
