O Gana, orientado pelo treinador português Carlos Queiroz, venceu quarta-feira (17 de junho) o Panamá por 1-0, com um golo a acabar, em encontro da primeira jornada do Grupo L do Mundial de futebol de 2026, disputado em Toronto, no Canadá.
Caleb Yirenkyi foi o ‘herói’ dos ganeses, ao marcar o golo da formação africana, aos 90+5 minutos, selando o quarto desaire em quatro jogos dos panamianos em Mundiais, após os três de 2018.
Na classificação, a equipa de Queiroz, no quinto Mundial consecutivo, depois de uma presença com Portugal (2010) e três com o Irão (2014, 2018 e 2022), soma os mesmos três pontos da Inglaterra, que venceu a Croácia por 4-2.
