Flights cancelled as fog disrupts travel at Auckland Airport

Thirty-four flights have been either cancelled or delayed due to fog disrupting travel at Auckland Airport.

Fog restrictions at Auckland Airport have been lifted after a morning of disruption.

A total of 57 flights have been disrupted since the restrictions were put in place at 4.30am.

Twenty-eight regional flights had been cancelled, and 18 had been delayed.

These affected Whangārei, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupō, Gisborne, Napier, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Blenheim, and Nelson.

Five Queenstown, three Wellington, and three Christchurch flights had also been delayed.

International flights were not affected.

Auckland Airport urged passengers to check the website or app for the latest flight arrival and departure information.

The disruption was occurring as Wellington Airport returned to normal services after the terminal was evacuated last night due to a fire.

Several flights were cancelled.

Fire and Emergency was investigating the cause of the fire.
