Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch has said she will be "a little envious" but "happy" for the young cast of the new Harry Potter series when it premieres on HBO Max this Christmas.
Louth actress Lynch, who famously played Luna Lovegood in the Potter franchise on the big screen, said she will "definitely be watching" as the torch is passed to Dominic McLaughlin (Harry), Arabella Stanton (Hermione), and Alastair Stout (Ron) in the new series, based on author JK Rowling's bestsellers.

Speaking to RTÉ Arts & Media Correspondent Evelyn O'Rourke at the Cork Midsummer Festival, where she is starring in the play Pool (No Water) , Lynch described the books as "my sanctuary as a child, as a shy person".
"So, I just think that material is so beautiful and so ripe for ploughing through and making more of it," she continued.
Lynch said the series will expand the Potter universe on screen.
"That was the one thing with the films, was that we had to kind of stick to essential plot because they had to be two hours," she explained.

"So, I think there is so much more to mine - and I will be watching. And I will be a little envious, but I will mostly be happy for those young actors to have that amazing experience and to work on some of the best-written material as their first gig. That's incredibly special."
The new Harry Potter series will premiere on HBO Max on Christmas Day.
The Cork Midsummer Festival runs until 21 June. For more, see: corkmidsummer.com.
