Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem affirmed that the 2026 Al-Ahram Commercial Vehicles (ACV) Show serves as an important platform for supporting the state’s efforts to deepen and localize domestic manufacturing and increase the local component ratio in the commercial vehicle industry.
He noted that the automotive sector is among the top priority industries within Egypt’s Industry Strategy 2030 due to its ability to attract investments, transfer technology, deepen manufacturing, and enhance export capabilities.
The Minister made these remarks during the inauguration of the third edition of the Al-Ahram Commercial Vehicles Show, held under the patronage of the Prime Minister.
The event was attended by Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, representing the Prime Minister; Mohamed Fayez Farahat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahram Foundation and Hisham el-Zeiny, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram Auto.
Hashem explained that the exhibition, organized by Al-Ahram Foundation as part of its role in supporting productive and industrial sectors, contributes to strengthening communication among manufacturers, investors, and customers, opening new horizons for partnerships and investments, and showcasing the latest global innovations and technologies in transportation and logistics.
The Minister pointed out that the exhibition reflects the significant development witnessed by Egypt’s commercial vehicle sector, particularly in light of major national projects in infrastructure, roads, and logistics.
He noted that the event brings together leading manufacturers, specialists, agents, investors, and local and international companies to showcase the latest vehicle models and advanced solutions.
During his tour of the participating companies’ pavilions, the minister of industry listened to presentations from company officials regarding their production and expansion plans and took the opportunity to test-drive one of the displayed commercial vehicles to assess its capabilities and technological advancements.
Hashem praised the quality of the vehicles on display as well as the level of manufacturing and technological progress achieved in the sector, stressing that this reflects the ability of companies operating in Egypt to increase local component ratios and elevate the commercial vehicle industry in line with international standards.
The Minister added that the ministry is working to improve the industrial investment climate by simplifying procedures, facilitating investors’ access to industrial services, providing fully-serviced industrial land, and supporting the expansion of productive projects, in recognition of the private sector’s role as a key partner in achieving comprehensive industrial development.
Hashem explained that the launch of the Automotive Industry Development Program (AIDP) underscores the Egyptian state’s commitment to building a modern and sustainable automotive industry based on increasing local components, raising added value, and enhancing the competitiveness of companies operating in the Egyptian market, thereby strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional hub for the automotive industry.
He reaffirmed that the Ministry of Industry is continuing to implement policies that support production, investment, and exports with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy, maximizing the utilization of local industrial capabilities, achieving economic development, and creating more job opportunities.
The Minister expressed his appreciation to Al-Ahram Foundation for organizing the exhibition, emphasizing that such events provide an important meeting point for companies and investors and contribute to supporting efforts to localize the automotive industry and strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional center for industry, production, and exports.
