A total of 302 police personnel from the regional headquarters, provincial districts in Leyte and Samar, and various support units were assigned to areas considered vulnerable to election-related security concerns.
According to Lt. Col. Analiza Armeza, PRO-8 spokesperson, the deployed personnel have been assigned to Leyte’s first and fourth congressional districts and Samar’s first district.
“These areas were identified due to recorded shooting incidents. While 95 percent of these cases have already been solved, it is still important to deploy personnel as part of our proactive strategy to ensure peaceful and orderly Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections,” Armeza said.
The task force is mandated to intensify anti-criminality operations, prevent violent incidents, respond to shooting cases, and neutralize lawless groups that could threaten public safety and disrupt the elections.
