COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics operatives serving a search warrant arrested a suspect for possession of alleged shabu and a loose high-powered firearm in Kabacan, Cotabato on Wednesday.
Charlene Magdurulang, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-12) regional director, said the operation conducted in Sitio Lumayong, Barangay Kayaga led to the arrest of a 45-year-old man known by the alias “Sammy,” a resident of the area and identified as a member of private armed group

Recovered during the operation were 20 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with a total estimated weight of approximately five grams and a street value of P34,000.

Magdurulang said PDEA agents and their partners also seized one unlicensed caliber M14 rifle, four magazines, 45 rounds of live ammunition, and one cellular phone from the suspect.
The suspect, who is currently detained at the Kabacan Municipal Police Station (MPS), will be charged with violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and illegal possession of firearms.
“The successful operation underscores the continued commitment of PDEA 12 and its partner law enforcement units to intensify anti-drug operations and maintain peace and order in the community,” Magdurulang said. /mr
