Des artistes, écrivains, cinéastes, avocats et élus ont lancé, dans une tribune publiée jeudi par Le Monde , un appel à « boycotter » l'IA générative grand public, responsable selon eux d'une « marginalisation de l'être humain » par « les machines » .
« Sans attendre que le législateur bâtisse des digues, nous appelons au boycott de l'IA générative tous ceux qui ne sont pas contraints à l'utiliser » , écrivent les 150 signataires de l'appel, parmi lesquels figurent les écrivains Hervé Le Tellier, Annie Ernaux , Pierre Michon, Abel Quentin, l'ancienne ministre de la Culture Françoise Nyssen, les auteurs de BD Jul et Enki Bilal ou le biologiste Marc-André Selosse.

Les périls liés à l'IA générative grand public « ne sont pas la préoccupation d'une minorité obscurantiste ou paranoïaque » , affirment-ils dans ce texte publié alors que l'IA a agité les débats au G7 et au salon VivaTech cette semaine.

« Quand tant de responsables politiques sont hypnotisés par les promesses » des robots conversationnels, « la population française exprime une vive inquiétude. L'adoption de cette technologie est certes massive mais elle prend largement la forme d'une adoption répulsion » , estiment-ils. Selon un baromètre du régulateur du numérique (Arcom) publié mardi, l'utilisation de services comme ChatGPT s'accélère chez les Français, en particulier chez les jeunes de 15 à 24 ans.
« Nous condamnons un projet de société fondé sur la marginalisation de l'être humain et la destruction de notre milieu de vie » , écrivent les signataires. Car « utilisés de façon intensive par la jeunesse, les robots affaibliront ses capacités cognitives et créeront de redoutables dépendances émotionnelles » , selon eux.
