"Wait, is this real?!" The American tried to read the surnames of the Croatian national football team and couldn't come to his senses

An American viewer watching a World Cup match between Croatia and England was surprised by the Croatian players' surnames, finding them difficult to pronounce due to their unique sounds like 'č', 'ć', 'š', and 'ž'. The individual expressed confusion over names ending in 'ić', which are common among Serbs and Croats. He compared some surnames to the title of the Disney movie 'Lilo & Stitch'. The article discusses how foreign fans often struggle with pronouncing Slavic names, especially those ending in similar suffixes, leading to humorous attempts during major sporting events.

Strancima veliki izazov

Nije tajna da stranci često imaju problema s izgovorom naših imena i prezimena. Glasovi poput "č", "ć", "š" i "ž" mnogima predstavljaju pravi izazov, a dodatnu zbunjenost stvara činjenica da se veliki broj prezimena završava istim nastavkom.

Zbog toga se tokom velikih sportskih takmičenja redovno pojavljuju videi u kojima strani navijači pokušavaju da izgovore prezimena srpskih i drugih sportista južnoslovenskih zemalja, često uz vrlo zabavne rezultate.
