Boy dead after crash involving bike and parked lorry

A teenager has died following a collision between his bicycle and a parked lorry on the N72 in Lismore, County Waterford. The incident occurred shortly after 11am. A boy has died after a crash involving the bike he was cycling and a parked lorry in Lismore, Co Waterford this morning.

The incident took place on the N72 in Ballygalane shortly after 11am.

The boy, understood to be in his teens, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The road has since reopened after closing to facilitate a technical examination by gardaí.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to contact them.

In particular, they have appealed for road users who may have camera footage and were travelling on the road between Lismore and Cappoquin between 10.30am and 11.15am to come forward
