Bonoan back at PNP General Hospital

Former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan has been transferred back to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital in Camp Crame, Quezon City, following medical procedures at a private hospital. The transfer was confirmed by PNP-HS Director Brig. Gen. Portia Manalad via Viber message. Bonoan was previously hospitalized in a private facility for procedures including an angiogram and 2D echo. He recently surrendered to authorities after an arrest warrant was issued by the Sandiganbayan court against him and others for alleged plunder related to flood control project anomalies.

MANILA, Philippines — Former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan has been transferred back to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital in Camp Crame, Quezon City, according to the PNP Health Service (PNP-HS) on Monday.

In a Viber message, PNP-HS Director Brig. Gen. Portia Manalad confirmed that Bonoan was returned to the PNP General Hospital at 5:30 p.m.

“We are just waiting for the comprehensive official results,” Manalad said when asked about the results of the angiogram and 2D echo procedures of the former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) chief.

It was on June 3 when the PNP confirmed that Bonoan had been confined to a private hospital, where he underwent medical procedures such as an angiogram and 2D echo.

Bonoan recently surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group after the Sandiganbayan issued an arrest warrant against him, along with Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and three former DPWH officials, for plunder in connection with alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

Upon the doctor’s approval for his discharge, the former DPWH chief will be committed to the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas, where Estrada and the three others are currently detained. /mcm
