Police are investigating new evidence in the killings of a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son iin the village of Loggos, in the municipality of Aigialeia in the Peloponnese, focusing on the woman’s 65-year-old partner, who reported finding the bodies.
The man, an Italian national, told investigators he woke up and discovered the victims dead. He has denied involvement, but officers are examining what they described as potentially incriminating evidence.
Police said a washed shirt belonging to him was found with traces of blood, and that he had scratches on his hands under examination.
Investigators also reported a strong smell of alcohol inside the home, which they said could indicate an attempt to obscure evidence.
A cartridge from an air gun was found inside the house, which showed no signs of forced entry, authorities said.
Investigators believe the killings occurred early Tuesday, about six hours before the man alerted police.
The son died from a head wound caused by an air gun, while both victims also suffered stab wounds.
A knife was found outside the residence in a flower pot and is being forensically examined.
