Lightning floods devastated a Spanish village

Flash floods devastated the Spanish village of Viana do Bolo, where intense storms caused water and mud to flood streets and homes. Landslides buried cars and garages, with mud reaching basements and windows. Residents were cut off due to road closures. A local described the event as unprecedented. According to Reuters, nearly 6,000 lightning strikes were recorded in Galicia within 24 hours.

Povodně ničily majetek hlavně v obci Viana do Bolo, kde se po intenzivních bouřkách, které oblast zasáhly, valila ulicemi voda a bahno z okolních hor.

Sesuvy půdy zasypaly auta nebo garáže. Bahno mají lidé i ve sklepích a někde dosáhlo až k oknům domů. Obyvatelé zůstali odříznuti od okolního světa kvůli uzavírkám silnic.

„Nic podobného tomu, co se stalo dnes odpoledne, jsem v životě nezažil,“ řekl k situaci jeden z místních.

Podle agentury Reuters bylo za 24 hodin v Galicii zaznamenáno téměř 6 000 blesků.
