Omkring 550 tjänster försvinner och hela program läggs ner när BBC ska spara cirka 2 miljarder kronor i år.

Neddragningarna blir de största på ett decennium, enligt The Guardian .

Enligt BBC:s generaldirektör Matt Brittin räcker det inte med frivilliga avgångar utan man måste också säga upp anställda.

Under de kommande tre åren ska sammanlagt 2 000 tjänster dras in på det brittiska public service-bolaget.

– Vi lever i mycket osäkra tider, sade Brittin till personalen, enligt The Guardian.

– Vår publik förlitar sig på oss varje dag för att hålla dem informerade, underhålla dem och göra dem rustade för att förstå världen. Att göra besparingar samtidigt som vi uppfyller vårt uppdrag innebär en dubbelt svår tid för alla.
