MANILA, Philippines — Education Secretary Sonny Angara has stepped on the Department of Education’s (DepEd) classroom delivery drive with the completion of five disaster-resilient Learning Continuity Spaces (LCS) in Quezon, Bulacan, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro and Bohol.
This strategic deployment offers a rapid, cost-efficient solution to address classroom backlogs in schools facing the most urgent infrastructural needs.
The newly completed prefab units were handed over to Buli Elementary School in Quezon, Kalawakan Elementary School in Bulacan, Magwawa Integrated School in Davao del Norte, and Doroteo Elementary School in Davao de Oro, and in Loon North High School in Bohol.

“President Bongbong Marcos has given us a clear directive to ensure that no student is left behind. That is why these Learning Continuity Spaces are our rapid response to prevent disruptions to their classes whenever disasters occur,” Angara said.
“With the help of these innovative prefab classrooms, we are able to overcome the usual construction delays more quickly while maintaining high-quality and safe learning spaces for our students,” he added.
Of the targeted 1,622 prefab units under the P3.5 billion program, 159 Learning Continuity Space (LCS) units are currently under construction and are scheduled for completion by July 2026.
In addition, 505 units are progressing through various stages of the procurement process, including 462 sites under active procurement and 43 projects that have already been awarded and are awaiting their final Notice to Proceed (NTP).

This rapid infrastructure rollout forms part of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) broader classroom construction strategy.
Beyond the immediate deployment of Learning Continuity Spaces, DepEd is also utilizing diversified implementation channels, including partnerships with 109 local government units (LGUs) to date and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives for the construction of 3,100 classrooms under the PPP School Infrastructure Program.
