At least 6 dead after collision between 2 helicopters in Rio de Janeiro

At least six people were killed when two helicopters collided above the neighborhood of Recreio dos Bandeirantes in western Rio de Janeiro. The helicopters crashed onto the parking lot of an automobile dealer, causing a large fire that destroyed 20 cars. The incident occurred above the parking area, and smoke could be seen rising from the site. Images of the crash have circulated on social media.

"De helikopters zijn neergestort op de parking van een autohandelaar", klinkt het. Hierop ontstond een grote brand. 20 auto's werden in de as gelegd.

Tot nu toe zijn 6 doden bevestigd. Het gaat om personen die aan boord waren in de 2 helikopters. De  toestellen botsten boven de wijk Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in het westen van de stad.

Boven de parkeerplaats was een grote rookpluim te zien. Ook op sociale media circuleren beelden van de crash.
