Američka vojska saopćila je u četvrtak da je u napadu na plovilo u istočnom Pacifiku ubila trojicu muškaraca, što je posljednji u nizu sličnih napada koje organizacije za ljudska prava smatraju vansudskim pogubljenjima, dok ih Washington opisuje kao operacije protiv „narko-terorista“.

Američka Južna komanda saopćila je da su u toj akciji ubijena „tri muška narko-terorista“ , dodajući da među američkim vojnicima nije bilo povrijeđenih.

Administracija predsjednika Donalda Trumpa posljednjih mjeseci izvodi napade na plovila za koja tvrdi da prevoze drogu. Američka vojska navodi da su mete povezane s organizacijama koje su označene kao terorističke te da plove poznatim rutama za krijumčarenje narkotika.

Vojska, međutim, nije objavila identitet organizacija niti osoba koje su se nalazile na plovilu, niti je iznijela detalje koji bi potkrijepili te tvrdnje.

Stručnjaci i organizacije za ljudska prava u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama i svijetu, poput Human Rights Watcha i Amnesty Internationala, dovode u pitanje zakonitost takvih napada, tvrdeći da bi mogli predstavljati vansudska pogubljenja.
