Γαύδος: Διάσωση 44 μεταναστών νότια του νησιού μετά από εντοπισμό λέμβου από τη Frontex

Υπό τον συντονισμό του Ενιαίου Κέντρου Συντονισμού Έρευνας και Διάσωσης (ΕΚΣΕΔ), πραγματοποιήθηκε επιχείρηση διάσωσης μεταναστών στη θαλάσσια περιοχή 45 ναυτικά μίλια νότια της Γαύδου.
Η λέμβος εντοπίστηκε από εναέριο μέσο της Frontex, το οποίο επιχειρούσε στην περιοχή στο πλαίσιο της επιτήρησης των θαλάσσιων συνόρων. Στη λέμβο επέβαιναν συνολικά 44 αλλοδαποί.
Μετά τον εντοπισμό τους, οι επιβαίνοντες περισυνελέγησαν από παραπλέον φορτηγό πλοίο με σημαία Σιγκαπούρης, το οποίο ανταποκρίθηκε στο αίτημα συνδρομής των ελληνικών αρχών.
Οι 44 διασωθέντες μεταφέρονται στο λιμάνι της Παλαιόχωρας Χανίων, συνοδεία πλωτού σκάφους του Λιμενικού Σώματος - Ελληνικής Ακτοφυλακής, προκειμένου να ακολουθηθούν οι προβλεπόμενες διαδικασίες καταγραφής και ταυτοποίησης.
Σύμφωνα με τις πληροφορίες, κατά τη διάρκεια της επιχείρησης στην περιοχή επικρατούσαν δυτικοβορειοδυτικοί άνεμοι έντασης 4 έως 5 μποφόρ.
