350 train passengers stranded in Kumtich after a personal accident: train traffic between Leuven and Landen disrupted

Een trein met 350 reizigers staat vrijdagochtend stil nabij de spoorwegovergang in Kumtich (Tienen) na een persoonsongeval om 6.45 uur. Daardoor is ook het treinverkeer tussen Tienen en Leuven in beide richtingen stilgelegd. Ook het treinverkeer richting Landen is verstoord.

"Deze ochtend was er om 6.45 uur een persoonsaanrijding in Tienen", zegt Thomas Baeken van Infrabel. "Dat gebeurde in de buurt van de Sint-Barbarastraat."

350 reizigers geëvacueerd

De trein met 350 reizigers staat stil aan de spoorwegovergang in Kumtich. "Momenteel bekijken we in overleg met de politie hoe we deze gestrande reizigers op een veilige manier kunnen evacueren. Er zijn bussen onderweg naar Kumtich", zegt Dimitri Temmerman van de NMBS.

Omleiding en vervangend busvervoer

IC-treinen rijden waar mogelijk om via Hasselt. Reizigers kunnen met hun treinticket gebruik maken van het busvervoer tussen Tienen en Leuven. Ook tussen Brussel-Noord en Hasselt zijn vertragingen en afschaffingen mogelijk. De NMBS raadt reizigers aan de aankondigingen te volgen, de schermen te raadplegen of de reis te plannen via nmbs.be of de NMBS-app.
