16 killed in airstrikes in Lebanon

Sixteen people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the Nabatieh region of southern Lebanon overnight, according to the Lebanese state media. The attacks occurred despite a ceasefire agreement in the Middle East, which Lebanon is part of. The Lebanese state media stated that 'the enemy has committed several massacres' with a series of airstrikes after midnight, targeting residential areas in several villages, including Haruf, where at least eight people were killed. These are the deadliest attacks since Iran and the United States agreed to end the conflict in the Middle East.

Reykur stígur upp eftir loftárásir Ísraela á Líbanon í nótt.

AFP/Jalaa Marey

Alls voru 16 drepnir í loftárásum Ísraela á héraðið Nabatieh í suðurhluta Líbanons í nótt, að sögn ríkisfjölmiðils, þrátt fyrir viljayfirlýsingu um vopnahlé í Mið-Austurlöndum sem Líbanon er hluti af.

Ríkisfjölmiðill Líbanons sagði að „óvinurinn hefur framið þó nokkur fjöldamorð” með röð loftárása eftir miðnætti þar sem skotmörkin voru íbúðasvæði í þó nokkrum bæjum, þar á meðal Haruf, þar sem að minnsta kosti átta voru drepnir.

Þetta eru mannskæðustu árásirnar síðan Íran og Bandaríkin samþykktu að binda enda á stríðið í Mið-Austurlöndum.
