Po vzdrževalnih delih je Aljažev stolp pripravljen na 131. obletnico

On July 30, 2026, conservation experts from the National Museum of Slovenia and the ZVKDS Restoration Center completed maintenance work on Aljažev Stolp, preparing it for its 131st anniversary since its erection on August 7, 1895. The date marks both the founding of the structure and a proposed national holiday, Triglav Day, which has been suggested as a celebration of Slovenian heritage and nature. The restoration process included a thorough inspection and minor repairs to the painted surface of the tower. Conservationists noted that while extreme weather conditions, particularly heavy snowfall during winter, had caused some damage, they found no major changes to the artwork. Minor cracks were identified, likely due to visitor movement inside the tower. These small imperfections were addressed during the maintenance phase. A key part of the restoration was repainting the entire exterior roof with a dark gray color suitable for the structure’s purpose. This decision followed observations that the existing paint had faded and developed more cracks over time. The painting also covered areas where the original color had dulled, including the flag and the inscription “Aljažev Stolp” above the entrance. Additional attention was given to other exposed parts of the tower, such as the diagonal supports and the threshold, ensuring their visual integrity remained intact. Before returning the tower to public view, all stickers that had previously obscured the historical plaque along the base were carefully removed. This allowed the monument to be fully visible once again, preserving its historical significance. Restoration efforts were documented through photographs taken by Gorazd Lemajč, a conservator from the ZVKDS Restoration Center. The images provide a detailed record of the work carried out, highlighting both the challenges posed by environmental factors and the meticulous care taken during the repair process. Aljažev Stolp stands as one of the oldest surviving structures in the region, offering a tangible link to the past. Its preservation is crucial not only for historical reasons but also for cultural continuity. As a symbol of local identity, the tower continues to draw visitors who seek to connect with the area's rich history. Looking ahead, plans are underway to further enhance the visitor experience while maintaining the structural and aesthetic integrity of the site. Future initiatives will focus on educational programs and guided tours aimed at raising awareness of the importance of preserving such landmarks.
