In a statement released by its Chief Information Officer, Abdulmuiz Oshodi, the company highlighted the growing crisis of millions of young Nigerians lacking access to consistent schooling, vocational training, or pathways to productive adulthood. The firm emphasized that this situation could undermine economic growth, industrialization, and social stability, transforming Nigeria’s youthful population, a potential asset, into a major vulnerability. The warning comes amid reports that Nigeria continues to have one of the highest numbers of out-of-school children globally. According to A. P. MCNISI Limited, these children face limited opportunities to develop skills necessary for contributing meaningfully to the economy. The firm argued that an uneducated youth population fuels cycles of poverty, weakens the workforce essential for a growing economy, and creates conditions conducive to crime, exploitation, and social unrest. While acknowledging the government’s efforts, the company praised the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), launched in 2024, as a critical step toward improving access to higher education. The program provides interest-free loans covering tuition and living expenses, with repayment deferred until beneficiaries secure employment. By mid-2026, NELFUND had distributed over N300 billion to more than 1.6 million students across public tertiary institutions. A. P. MCNISI Limited viewed this initiative as evidence that structured support can unlock the potential of Nigeria’s youth, noting that the demand and talent exist but sustained investment is often lacking. Despite these efforts, the firm stressed that the education loan scheme alone cannot resolve the broader challenge of millions of children who never reach tertiary education due to factors such as poverty, homelessness, and lack of access to basic education. It called upon private organizations to collaborate with the government by investing in feeding programs, shelter, foundational education, scholarships, and vocational training through partnerships with non-governmental organizations. MCNISI Limited has already taken steps to support vulnerable children through NGO collaborations, offering feeding, housing, and educational assistance while also creating entry-level job opportunities for young people completing such programs. The company framed these initiatives not as acts of charity but as strategic investments in the workforce, customer base, and community stability required for long-term prosperity. The firm urged government, private sector entities, and civil society organizations to enhance their cooperation in tackling the education crisis. It warned that delaying action would place greater burdens on future generations. While the risk posed by the growing number of out-of-school children is undeniable, the company maintained that reversing the trend is still possible through continued investment and coordinated efforts. In response to the firm’s concerns, officials from the Ministry of Education have acknowledged the severity of the issue and expressed willingness to work with private sector partners to expand educational access.
