Julio Iglesias toži Yolando Diaz zaradi vmešavanja v čast in zahteva 50.000 evrov

Julio Iglesias has filed a lawsuit against Spain’s second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, alleging unlawful intrusion into his right to honor and privacy. The case was submitted to the Supreme Court, with the singer seeking compensation of 50,000 euros for moral damages. The claim follows public statements made by Díaz regarding Iglesias, which were published on her Bluesky account and during a segment on RTVE’s La Hora de la 1 last January. The legal action comes after two former employees of Iglesias accused him of crimes including human trafficking with forced labor, sexual aggression, injuries, and violations of workers' rights. However, the National Court’s Public Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the complaint due to lack of jurisdiction and competence within Spanish courts. When elDiario.es revealed the existence of this denunciation, Díaz responded publicly, describing the testimonies as “shocking” and accusing Iglesias of maintaining a system of power based on constant aggression. Iglesias claims that Díaz, as a high-ranking public official, spread clear prejudices against him, asserting that such abuses occurred in his home and that workers were subjected to slavery-like conditions. He argues that these statements have harmed his reputation and violated his dignity. Following a failed mediation attempt where Díaz refused to retract her comments or acknowledge any damage to his honor, Iglesias turned to the Supreme Court through a civil route. In parallel, Iglesias has also filed criminal charges against several journalists from elDiario.es, including its editor-in-chief, Ignacio Escolar. He alleges that their reports contained false and insulting remarks aimed at damaging his public image and undermining his reputation. The singer claims the media's coverage forms part of a broader campaign of discrediting and media-driven harassment against him, demanding that the publications remove the articles immediately. Escolar, in response to the accusations, stated that the newspaper would not retract the information and would defend itself in court. He emphasized that the reporting stemmed from a rigorous three-year investigation and that publishing verified information is a core responsibility of journalism. Despite the pressure, he reiterated that the publication would stand firm in its commitment to factual reporting. The situation reflects a complex interplay of legal, ethical, and public interest dimensions. On one side, there is a claim of defamation and violation of personal rights, while on the other, there is a defense rooted in investigative journalism and the public’s right to know. The ongoing legal battles highlight the tensions that can arise when public figures face allegations that challenge both their personal conduct and their status as prominent individuals. As the cases progress through the judicial system, they will likely continue to draw attention and debate over the boundaries of free speech, journalistic integrity, and individual rights.
