In July and August, Slovenian roads saw the highest number of accidents involving foreign drivers, according to data from insurance company Triglav. The statistics reveal a sharp increase in incidents during these months compared to other periods of the year. This trend aligns with the increased mobility of Slovenians abroad and the peak of the tourist season. Croatia stands out as the country where Slovenian insured individuals report the most damage cases, likely due to its popularity as a summer destination. Similarly, Italy and Austria also rank among the top countries where Slovenian policyholders experience vehicle damage. During this period, the number of assistance calls made by Slovenian drivers while traveling abroad also rises significantly. Most interventions involve vehicle breakdowns, followed by issues such as tire problems and battery failures. Traffic accidents account for only the fourth most common reason for roadside assistance. These figures underscore the importance of being well-prepared before embarking on a journey, checking the vehicle, ensuring proper insurance coverage, and maintaining composure on the road. The cost of assistance abroad can quickly exceed 1,000 euros, and in more complex situations, it may approach or even surpass insurance limits. Therefore, adequate coverage is crucial for worry-free travel, says Eva Škrinjar, director of automotive insurance at Triglav Insurance. “During the height of the tourist season, it is even more important that drivers have appropriate assistance coverage, which can help them resolve unexpected situations quickly and effectively,” she adds. The rise in traffic incidents during the summer months highlights a broader pattern of risk associated with international travel. As more Slovenians take advantage of their holidays abroad, the likelihood of encountering unforeseen circumstances increases. This includes not only collisions but also mechanical failures and other disruptions that can lead to delays or additional expenses. The data from Triglav Insurance indicates that these challenges are particularly pronounced in neighboring countries such as Croatia, Italy, and Austria, all of which attract large numbers of Slovenian tourists. One of the key factors contributing to the higher incidence of incidents is the seasonal surge in personal vehicle usage. Many Slovenians opt to drive themselves rather than rely on public transportation or rental cars, especially during the summer. This choice, while convenient, comes with added responsibilities. Drivers must ensure their vehicles are in good condition, equipped with necessary tools, and properly maintained. Additionally, they should carry sufficient documentation, including valid insurance policies and emergency contact information, to facilitate quick resolution of any issues that arise. The insurance industry has responded to this trend by emphasizing the importance of comprehensive coverage. Policies that include roadside assistance, medical evacuation, and legal protection are increasingly recommended for travelers. These services can provide critical support in emergencies, helping to minimize both financial and emotional stress. However, many drivers remain unaware of the extent of their coverage or the specific benefits included in their policies. This lack of awareness underscores the need for greater education and outreach efforts aimed at promoting responsible travel practices. As the summer season continues, the demand for assistance services is expected to remain high. Authorities and insurers alike are preparing for the influx of travelers by expanding their resources and improving response times. In addition to technical support, there is a growing emphasis on preventive measures, such as regular vehicle inspections and driver training programs. These initiatives aim to reduce the overall incidence of incidents and enhance safety for all road users.

Julija in avgusta največ nesreč s tujci na slovenskih cestah

Hrvaška, Italija in Avstrija so države z največjimi primeri.

Zakaj dejstva (85): The article cites data from Zavarovalnice Triglav, which is a credible source, and presents statistics on accidents involving foreign drivers during summer months. It mentions specific countries like Croatia, Italy, and Austria, aligning with cross-source consensus that these are common destinations

Zakaj objektivnost (70): The article has a somewhat promotional tone, emphasizing the importance of insurance and preparedness, which can be seen as editorializing.
