L'ex ministro della sanità Asen Mejidiyev è stato nominato vicepresidente della National Health Insurance Corporation (NZOK) con mandato fino al 30 novembre 2028, secondo Mediapool.bg. La sua candidatura è stata presentata dal partito governativo Progressista della Bulgaria, il che significa che ha ricevuto il sostegno dei deputati del Consiglio di amministrazione.
Assen Mejidiev è nato a Dubnica e ha completato la medicina presso l'Università di Medicina di Sofia nel 1994 e la gestione della salute nel 2010. Ha una specializzazione in Germania, Croazia e Svizzera. Per quasi tre decenni ha lavorato come medico-ordinatore nel reparto di malattie polmonari presso l'ospedale di Peta Grad.
Fa parte del team dell'ospedale "Пирогов", dove ha creato e diretto il primo reparto per l'UNH nell'istituto medico e ha avviato il programma nazionale "Salute infantile - Пирогов" per la conduzione di esami preventivi altamente specializzati nel paese.
I deputati hanno interrotto in anticipo il mandato di direttore del NZOK con 193 voti favorevoli, 3 contrari e 2 astensioni. Inoltre, hanno interrotto il mandato di direttore del Centro sanitario con 202 voti favorevoli. Il direttore del NZOK ha presentato le dimissioni il 10 giugno di quest'anno.
