Land Rover has unveiled its first fully electric Range Rover, marking a major shift for the British brand while retaining the iconic design and capabilities that have defined the nameplate since its introduction in 1970. The new model, produced at Land Rover’s Solihull plant in England, replaces the traditional internal combustion engine with two permanent-magnet electric motors, delivering a combined power output of 550 horsepower and 850 Newton meters of torque. To develop the vehicle, Jaguar Land Rover tested prototypes over more than 1.5 million kilometers, exposing them to extreme environments ranging from temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius in Sweden to the harsh desert conditions of Dubai. One notable innovation is the ThermAssist system, which regulates battery temperature to enhance efficiency, range, and charging speed. Orders for the Range Rover Electric are already being accepted, with both short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase variants available, along with multiple trim levels including a limited-edition First Edition model. In Italy, the starting price for the new electric Range Rover is set at €165,400. The transition to an all-electric powertrain represents a strategic move for Land Rover, reflecting broader industry trends toward electrification. While the brand has previously introduced hybrid models, this marks the first time a Range Rover has been offered solely in electric form.
