Qbano has expanded its product range by entering the condiment market with four new flavors, aiming to triple sales in this category. The company announced the launch of a new line of sauces derived from its iconic Salsa Qbano, marking a strategic move to strengthen its presence beyond restaurants and reach consumers directly at home. The decision follows a notable growth in sales of the flagship sauce during the first half of 2026. According to FSQ Group, which owns the brand, nearly 54,600 units of the 200-gram version were sold between January and June, while the national total surpassed 57,000 units. Sales were highest in Bogotá, with 16,750 units sold, followed by Cali with 9,134 and Medellín with 7,718. Juan Felipe López, head of Marketing at FSQ Group, stated that the success of the original sauce confirmed there was an opportunity to expand the category. He noted that consumers are not only enjoying the products in restaurants but also seeking to bring the flavors into their homes. The new lineup includes four distinct flavors: Sweet Heat, Cheese, Ham, and Cilantro, all developed based on the original recipe of Salsa Qbano. These will initially be available in 60-gram portions as complementary items to menu offerings and will be introduced through a limited edition scheme, following the global trend of “drops.” This approach aims to create urgency and exclusivity among consumers. FSQ Group expects the new line to account for between 4% and 5% of overall sales during the initial phase. The company sees potential in a growing market: in Colombia, the condiments and dressings category moves more than 68,000 tons annually, driven by household consumption and the pursuit of new culinary experiences, particularly among younger consumers. The expansion reflects broader trends in consumer behavior, where convenience and variety play key roles. As more people seek to recreate restaurant-quality meals at home, the demand for ready-to-use condiments continues to rise. Qbano’s entry into this space aligns with these shifts, offering a familiar taste with innovative twists tailored to meet evolving preferences. The introduction of the new flavors comes amid increased digital engagement, as evidenced by platforms like Rappi surpassing eight million food orders during the World Cup. This surge in online ordering highlights the importance of accessibility and convenience in modern purchasing habits, factors that Qbano is addressing through its new product strategy. With the new sauces set to debut under a limited release model, the company is positioning itself to capitalize on current market dynamics. By leveraging the popularity of its existing product and introducing variations that cater to diverse tastes, Qbano is taking a calculated step toward diversifying its revenue streams and deepening customer loyalty. The response from early adopters and retailers will likely shape the long-term trajectory of this initiative.
