The commission has heard testimonies from previous witnesses, including retired Hawks Colonel Kobus Roelofse and Captain Mark McLean, who have both testified about the alleged leaking of the criminal complaint from Johnson to Khan. Khan, who faces multiple charges related to an illicit precious metals case, has not yet appeared before the commission. He was wounded in a shooting at the end of last month, which has delayed his testimony. As a senior officer within the South African Police Service's Crime Intelligence unit, Khan has been implicated in ongoing allegations of corruption and financial misconduct.
