La Letizia perde il controllo - Qui cade una regina

Queen Letizia of Spain lost her footing and fell onto the deck of a fishing vessel during a royal visit to Llanes in northern Spain on Saturday. The 54-year-old monarch slipped while walking aboard the boat, landing on her bottom before quickly recovering. She sustained no serious injuries and continued with her official schedule. The incident occurred during a tour of the fishing community in the autonomous region of Asturias. The royal family arrived in Llanes accompanied by King Felipe VI, who is 58, and their two daughters, Princess Leonor, 20, and Infanta Sofia, 19. The group visited the town to present the award for Best Village in Asturias 2026 to the traditional Santa Ana fishers' cooperative. Part of the program included a walk over the deck of a local fishing boat. Conditions were challenging because high waves had hit the vessel just one day prior. It was temporarily unclear whether the inspection would proceed due to the rough sea state. Although the weather calmed down before the visit, the effects of the stormy seas remained evident. The deck appeared slippery, likely due to water puddles. Video footage captured the moment Letizia stumbled and fell. Several aides rushed to assist her immediately. One man helped her stand up again. Letizia pointed at the floor after rising, suggesting she may have slipped on a wet patch. Her daughter Sofia initially did not notice the fall. By the time she realized what happened, her mother was already upright. Sofia smiled briefly before asking if her mother was okay. Prince Leonor stood nearby, and both princesses appeared to suppress smiles. King Felipe did not seem to witness the stumble directly, as he was seen stepping off the boat separately. Despite the scare, the Queen showed no signs of distress. She resumed her duties promptly after the accident. The brief interruption did not derail the rest of the engagement. Meanwhile, King Felipe has been in the public eye for another reason recently. He underwent surgery on his left eye on Saturday evening following a busy day of appointments. The procedure addressed cataracts and reportedly lasted approximately 30 minutes. Medical staff indicated the operation went well. The King is expected to resume his official commitments on Monday. This follows a period of intense activity for the Spanish monarchy. The slip on the boat added a lighthearted moment to an otherwise formal state visit. Local officials noted the importance of the award for the fishing community. The event highlighted the close ties between the crown and traditional maritime professions in Asturias. Weather conditions played a significant role in the day's events. The previous day's storms made navigation difficult. Safety protocols were followed throughout the visit. The royal family maintained composure despite the unexpected turn of events. Observers noted the quick response of the security detail. The Queen’s resilience was apparent as she moved on to the next part of the itinerary. The incident serves as a reminder of the physical demands placed on royals during field visits. No further complications arose from the fall. The family departed Llanes after completing all planned activities. The award ceremony proceeded as scheduled. The Santa Ana cooperative received recognition for its heritage. The visit aimed to strengthen regional identity. Media coverage focused heavily on the visual evidence of the slip. Public reaction was largely sympathetic. There were no reports of long-term health issues for the Queen. The King’s eye surgery recovery is proceeding smoothly according to palace statements. Both incidents occurred within a 24-hour window. The juxtaposition drew attention to the personal challenges faced by the royal couple. Their public image remained stable. The trip concluded without major disruptions beyond the minor accident.
