A radical right-wing gathering known as "Ritorno a Camelot" is set to take place from September 3 to 6 at the Hotel Ciclamino in Pietramurata, a municipality in the province of Trento, Italy. The event has been confirmed by local authorities, despite growing controversy over its association with far-right groups. The participation of Futuro Nazionale, a political party led by Roberto Vannacci, has intensified public debate, with some critics calling the event a neo-Nazi rally. Angelo Bonelli, a member of the Green and Left coalition within the European Greens parliamentary group, has condemned the involvement of Futuro Nazionale, describing it as a grave issue. Futuro Nazionale's regional representative, Emilio Giuliana, has confirmed the party’s attendance at the event. He stated that the presence of Blood & Honour, a British organization classified as a terrorist group by the UK government, does not pose a problem for his party. This stance has drawn sharp criticism from Bonelli, who argues that the party's alignment with such groups undermines democratic values. He emphasized that the event includes references to Nazi-era youth movements and incites violence through lyrics such as "Fight until death," "React with punches," and "Destroy the red traitor." These messages, he claims, are incompatible with an anti-fascist democracy and have prompted him to call on Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi to fully enforce the Mancino Law, which criminalizes extremist activities. The local authorities have decided not to ban the event but have imposed strict security measures. A meeting of the provincial committee for public order and safety was held in Trento, resulting in the approval of the event under specific conditions. Security forces will include up to 140 officers from the police, Carabineri, and Guardia di Finanza. They will monitor both external and internal areas of the hotel, ensuring compliance with regulations and reporting any illegal behavior to judicial authorities. The estimated number of participants ranges between 300 and 400 individuals. Authorities have expressed concern about potential clashes between attendees and protesters opposing the event. The mayor of Dro, Ginetta Santoni, has voiced her disapproval, stating that she finds the spirit of the gathering unacceptable and regrets that Pietramurata must become a venue for extremists. She believes that the authorities should ensure public safety while maintaining the integrity of the community. The event has sparked widespread mobilization among associations, parties, and citizens. Deputies Sara Ferrari of the Democratic Party and Stefania Ascari of the Five Star Movement have submitted parliamentary inquiries regarding the situation. The police have also warned that they will not only prevent confrontations but also ensure that all regulations are strictly followed. The presence of law enforcement is expected to remain high throughout the duration of the gathering, reflecting the heightened concerns surrounding the event.
